Titanium dioxide is a natural mineral, safe to use on the skin. Some mineral products use nano titanium dioxide or micronized titanium dioxide, when the particles are so fine they could be absorbed by the skin. In this case they can become toxic and pathogenic. Preservatives like methylparaben and tridosium EDTA, propylparaben and diasolidinyl urea are used to extend the shelf life of makeup products. They are not natural ingredients. Mineral makeup includes inert minerals that have a long shelf life. Adding oils, cornstarch, dyes and fragrances and other biological ingredients shortens the shelf life.
